A. Final Plan Review for Daniel and Lise Brosseau for a 2-lot subdivision on Brosseau Road on Parcel #0013006230. Zoned Medium Density Residential District.

B. Preliminary Plan Review for Paul Tremblay for a 4-lot subdivision on Gore Road on Parcel #0009207495. Zoned Agricultural District.

C. Sketch Plan Review of Danny & Anne Ives for a 3-lot subdivision off Lamkin Street on Parcel #0021005291. Medium Density Residential District.

Application documents are on file for public review at the Municipal Office Building at 2996 VT Route 78 during normal business hours or by appointment.

In accordance with 24 V.S.A. 4464, participation in a local public hearing proceeding by an interested person, as defined in 24 V.S.A. 4465, is a prerequisite to the right to file a subsequent appeal of a decision resulting from that proceeding.

2010 SUMMER INTERNSHIP NFCT

Northern Forest Canoe Trail

Internship Program

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) is now accepting applications for its 2010 Internship Program. The NFCT, based in Waitsfield, Vermont, stewards a 740-mile canoe route traversing New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Seven interns will be hired this summer:

5 Stewardship Interns will spend their summer in the field, completing trail projects alongside area land managers and community volunteers. Projects will include campsite maintenance, river access improvements, and signage development. Interns will play a key role in preparing for and leading a series of volunteer "waterway" work trips throughout the summer in New York, Vermont, Quebec, New Hampshire, and Maine. This position will run from June 14th to August 17th. Stewardship Interns will receive two weeks of training covering topics of Leave No Trace, trail construction and maintenance, universal trail assessment, group dynamics, and leadership skills. Stewardship Interns will be performing projects in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

The Program Intern will assist NFCT staff with the wide variety of activities that happen in the busy Waitsfield, Vermont office. The Program Intern will participate in the running of a small non-profit during our busiest season, pitching in on a variety of tasks.

The Youth Program Intern will help coordinate and lead NFCT's Northern Forest Explorers Youth Program. The Youth Program Intern will be working with children age 10-14 in a program developed to connect rural youth with their backyard waterways.

Position Benefits:

· Academic credit can be arranged

· $2,250 stipend will be provided

· Variety of Trainings

· Exposure to a variety of land management, recreation, habitat/wildlife professionals

· Reimbursement for mileage associated with work

2010 Born to Read Program: Saturday March 13th* at 9:30am (Snow date is 3/20) All 2009 newborns from Highgate will be honored with a new book dedicated to the library in their name. Each family will be able to chookse the book that their child's personalized bookplate will be placed in. Each newborn will also recieve a board book to keep. Families will be getting a postcard in the mail the week of March 1st with details. Please RSVP to the library by March 11th.

Vermont Reads 2010 Community Book Discussion: Monday March 6th at 6:00pm. This year's Vermont reads selection is

The Day of the Pelican by Katherine Paterson. Books are currently available for those interested in attending.

Highgate ASK program & Crossroads Explorers*: Wednesdays starting March 10th - April 14th from 3:00-4:30 at the Highgate Public Library. What's the Big idea with math & science? Fun hands on activities for students in grades 2-4. *Children must be signed up through the Crossroads Explorers program at Highgate Elementary School in order to attend.

Trustee Meeting: Thursday March 11th at 5:30pm. Annual Policy review meeting.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting: Thursday March 18th at 3:15pm. Students in grades 7 & up are encouraged to attend and become an active part in making their community a better place one step at a time. This is a community service focused group.

Family Ski & Ride Days. Highgate Public Library, Highgate recreation and Jay Peak invite you, your family and friends to ski or ride Jay for $20.00 – $25.00. It is easy to take advantage of this opportunity, simply email highgatefamilyski@gmail.com or call 868-4697 x 202. We must have 22 people signed up by Friday mornings at 9am If for some reason the weather is really bad or we don’t have enough people signed up, the ski date will be canceled and everyone who has signed up will be notified. Tickets can be picked up and paid for on each ski date morning between 8:30 – 10:30 in State side lodge from the table that is labeled

The Highgate Teen Advisory Board (TABBERS) is participating in the 2010 BIG Change Round Up for kids through the Vermont Children's Hospital. With your help, they can make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.

The funds that they will help raise, will provide programs, services and equipment that make Vermont Children's Hospital

such a special place. Funds raised through the Big Change Roundup for Kids will help provide things like:

  • Child Life Specialists that work with children and their families through medical play and artwork to help reduce anxiety about treatment
  • Family assistance funds that support families with limited assistance to help pay for travel, lodging, food and other essentials
  • Education to help families of children with cystic fibrosis or diabetes understand the importance of nutrition in keeping their children healthy
  • Child and family-friendly spaces that that have been designed specifically with children in mind
  • Funding for cutting edge research to help find the next treatment for childhood cancer

If you have any change that you would like to donate to the Big Change Round Up for Kids through the Highgate Tabbers group, please drop it off at the Highgate Public Library, or the Highgate Town Office on or before Saturday March 13th. It is the goal of the Highgate Tabbers to raise at least $100 to help support this cause.

Saturday April 3rd at 9:00am (Sharp). *This event is for children in grades 3 and under only and will be held at the Highgate Elementary School on the playground rain (snow) or shine. Please dress for the weather conditions. Co-Sponsored by the Highgate Public LIbrary & Highgate Success By Six.
