Skater Tots: Join us on Tuesday afternoons at 1:00pm for some ice time at the Highgate Arena. Skates and crates are available for those who need them. *Skater tots will not be held during school vacation. There is no charge for this event. For information, please call Liza at 868-3970.
Trustee Meeting: Tuesday February 2nd at 6:00pm. This Meeting will be held at the library and is open to the public.
Toddler & Pre-School Story Hour: 10:00am Wednesday mornings (when school is in session). Come do some wiggles and share some giggle with us.
Teen Advisory Board Meeting: Thursday February 18th at 3:15pm.
Vermont Reads Book Discussion for 5th & 6th graders: Tuesday February 23rd at 1:00pm. Each participating child receives a copy of the 2010 Vermont Reads book to keep. This year's selection is Katherine Paterson's new release The Day of the Pelican. This event will be facilitated by a member of the Teen Advisory Board. Books are available now at the public library for interested students.
Traveling Storyteller presents: The Three Billy Goat Gruff: 10:00am on Wednesday February 24th at the Highgate Elementary School (in the library).
Family Ski Days at Jay Peak: The Highgate Recreation Department, Public Library & Jay Peak would like to present Family Ski & Ride Days. We want to encourage as many people who want to ski or ride this coming winter to take advantage of this great opportunity. On the Family Ski & Ride Days you, your family and friends can go ski or ride Jay for $20.00 – $25.00. It is easy to take advantage of this opportunity, simply email highgatefamilyski@gmail.com. During February, our Scheduled Ski Dates are: Saturday February 6th (must sign up by 9am on 2/5), Monday February 22nd (must sign up by 9am on 2/19), and Sunday February 28th (must sign up by 9am on 2/26)
The Library will be closed on Monday February 15th in observance of President's Day.
Highgate Success By Six Events:
Playgroup: Held each Monday at 10:00am (when school is in session) at the Highgate Elementary School in the Pre-School room.
Things to look for at the Library in March:
Vermont Reads Community Book Discussion join us as we discuss Katherine Paterson's new release The Day of the Pelican on Monday March 8th at 6:00pm. There are currently 60 books available to the public through this Vermont Humanities Council One-Book community reading program. Pick up your copy soon before they are all gone!
The Library will be closed on Tuesday March 2nd for Town Meeting.
Born to Read Event: If you are a member of the Highgate community and welcomed a new bundle of joy into the world during 2009, please watch your mail! On Saturday March 13th, all new babies born in Highgate (in 2009) & their families will be invited to the library for our annual Born to Read book celebration. All newborns will recieve a board book to take home & will be honored with a book dedicated to the Highgate Public Library in their name.
