PUBLIC HEARING FOR HIGHGATE TOWN PLAN ADOPTION

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given to the residents of the Town of Highgate, Vermont that the Select Board will hold a hearing on June 17, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in the Highgate Community Room at the rear of the Town Office Building to consider for adoption the following draft Highgate Town Plan 2010 pursuant to Chapter 117 of Title 24, Section 4385 of the Vermont Statutes Annotated.

The draft Plan includes 10 Chapters including an Introduction, Vision for the Town, Social and Economic Resources, Natural and Cultural Resources, Energy, Transportation, Community Facilities and Services, Land Use, Compatibility with Neighboring Towns and Recommendations for Implementation. Many of the changes that are included in the new version were to update data and language to reflect the current state of the Town. Additionally a Village Center Concept map has been included to plan for concentrating development. The full draft of the Highgate Town Plan (2010 Version) is available in the Highgate Town Clerk’s Office.

According to Title 24 of the Vermont Statutes Annotated, town plans must be readopted every five years or they will expire. The most recent Highgate Town Plan expires July 7, 2010. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on the adoption of the updated plan and to discuss any comments provided by the public.
